My Branding is Complete…Now What?
You have gotten everything you need to build the brand of your dreams. You have your logo suite, brand colors, and typography…but now what? We were recently guests on photographer Hannah Lozano’s podcast: Find Your Weekend where we both brought up a point that once our clients receive their branding or photographs, they have trouble knowing what to do next. With this in mind, we decided to create a little “How-To” for when it comes time to implement your branding.
Logo Suite
There are four different types of logos that you will receive in your logo suite: primary logo, secondary logo, brand mark, and brand icon. Let’s talk about the best ways to use them.
Primary logo- Since this logo takes up the most space and is the most detailed, you’ll want to use it in places like your website and on packaging.
Secondary logo- Although similar to your primary logo, this one is much more compact. You’ll want to use this logo on business cards, letterheads, or anything that has a smaller space to work with.
Brand Mark/Brand Icon- Both are relatively smaller and act as a visual that conveys your brand and its messaging. These can be used almost anywhere, but you’ll definitely want to use them on social media platforms or in your site footer.
Brand Colors / Typography
Utilizing your brand colors and typography is important for you to remain consistent with your branding. They are the building blocks of your brand and even the slightest change can be noticed by your clients. Use your brand colors and typography throughout your social media, packaging, and really anything that will be seen by your clients.
Tip: We love using Canva to create our social media templates and really any other materials that we share with the world. It is so simple to upload your brand colors and fonts so that they are easily accessible. This really helps when it comes to batching content and creating reel covers that remain brand consistent!
Brand Photography
If there is one thing you will hear consistently from us, it’s the power of brand photography. You can have an amazing and strategically design brand and website, but if your photography does not flow with the aesthetic, it can ruin all the hard work you’ve done. Brand photography elevates your brand and creates a 360 approach to your brand.
If you’ve paid a photographer, one important tip and a MUST for our clients, is that they see and review the brand guide and/or website wireframe. This will allow your photographer to not only see the aesthetic but to get a sense of the types of shots, the styles, the colors, etc, as the plan and help you style your shoot. For example, if your brand colors are soft, earth tones, you should not be wearing a bright pink or red dress for your brand shoot.
Once you have your photos, you can play around with placing them across your site, adding them to your social posts (we love using them for reel covers so our grid stays consistent), and using them for other materials or headshots.
